Statue in the window…

San Francisco, Pier39
San Francisco, Pier39

This statue i saw during my San Francisco trip, in some small art gallery near Pier39.

Somehow this statue had an interesting effect on me. Very rarely i meet pieces of art that touch my soul. For example, Da Vinci “Mona Lisa” was a complete disappointment to me… i guess i would have to agree, that the point of art is to “comfort disturbed and to disturb the comfortable…”

The emotions in this statue are incredible. Yes, many visual art forms with families, couples and babies are “cute”, but they never really touched my heart, they all were missing something for me, and i never considered them “cute”, but this particular statue somehow is different to me, it feels different…

This particular art piece, radiates pure and unconditional love in my opinion. And not because there is mother and a baby, but the way a male figure barely touches the female, at the same time having the look in his face that any woman wants to be looked like at, pure love.

We all, looking for one thing in life, love.

But not just anyone can allow love in…

“If we listen to our intellect,

we’d never have a love affair.

We’d never have friendship.

We’d never go into business,

because we’d be too cynical.

Well, that’s nonsense. You’ve got

to jump off cliffs all the time and build your wings on the way down”

Car trip: Southern California – Ashland, Oregon

I am taking a car trip from Southern California, to Oregon and possibly Washington border. I have been to Ashland, Oregon multiply times, and to be honest i enjoy it very much. People that have visited both states would know the difference, but the ones that have not seen Oregon, let me tell you, it is much better than you would ever expect.

Southern California… well there are couple words that can describe it: desert heat & fake boobs 🙂  These two things that Southern California is mostly known for.  With that said, Oregon state to me is like a breath of fresh air! Honestly, the moment you pass that “Welcome to Oregon” sign you feel like you are on the different planet. People are super nice, the weather is not as hot, the green nature makes much more oxygen, that you actually feel like you can breathe and not die from it, and most important there are no sales taxes… so shopping becomes a joy, rather than a teeth pulling splurge 🙂

So this trip i decided to drive all the way to Portland, since i have never been there. I have heard that the weather in Portland is the same as weather in Kiev, Ukraine, because both cities located at the same sea level.. so this time i decided to make sure for myself and see how beautiful Portland is. So my next post will be about Portland 🙂

And while driving for hours i was entertaining myself by reading quotes on Pinterest:

“People are often unreasonable, illogical and self centered, forgive them anyway. If you are kind, people may accuse you of being selfish and having ulterior motives, be kind anyway. if you are successful, you’ll win some false friends and true enemies, succeed anyway. If you are honest, people may cheat you, be honest anyway. What you spent years building, someone can destroy overnight, build anyway. If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous, be happy anyway. The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow, do well anyway. Give the world the best you have and it may never be enough, give the world the best you’ve got anyway. You see, in a final analysis, it’s between only you. It was never between you and them anyway”

Kiev Ukraine

I feel nostalgic today… So i decided to talk about my hometown… Kiev.
I hear that some people get used to new country new environment very fast, and some keep longing for their hometown… I always wondered why this happens… why people perceive change so differently… After living in US for 10 years, i still long for the culture, churches, for the stone paved streets, especially my favorite – Andriyivskyy Descent, for the long walks in Kiev parks, for the nature and all the trees, for summer rain (which i probably love the most 🙂 ) and even for the snow… I don’t really miss people in particular… Of course every city has its good sides and bad sides, beauties and vices. Every time i come to Kiev i see its metamorphosis, it changes, people change, culture started to become something different, i think that is the reason i do not miss people, but only the City. I guess for now i can say, i am deeply in love with Kiev:)

Macro photography: Reverse lens method

I love photography, and it is my latest obsession.

I have seen so many macro cool pictures on Pinterest, that i decided to look into it and see if I can take some cool macro pictures.

I have read a lot of tutorials and articles, and some how it didn’t work, until i found this article.

So here is my picture i took yesterday of my orchid, it is not perfect, but it is a start 🙂
